In Ha Tay province, about 100 km outside of Hanoi, lies one of the most popular religious sites in Vietnam. The Perfume Pagoda actually consists of series of pagodas built inside grottoes. The sacred shrines are typical of Buddist shrienes found all over the world, but their unique context and importance to Vietnamese Buddists who show up in the springtime in large numbers – make the Perfume Pagoda an obligatory stop in Vietnam’s north.
Chua Huong is famous for the annual pilgrimage of Buddhists. Every year, between February and March, Hoi Chua Huong or Chua Huong festival draws hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country. The festival is also a very popular place for young couples to meet and it is also a place where many budding romances are formed. During this time of the year, Ben Duc is packed with thousands of row boats used for shuttling visitors.
07.30 : We pick you up at the hotel and depart for the Perfume Pagoda 10.00 : Arrival at the Perfume Pagoda. After a scenic hour and a half boat ride along the Yen stream and a 2 hour trek, you reach the Huong Tich Cave which houses the Pagoda of the Perfume Vestige. Next, you’ll visit the Thien Tru Pagoda or Pagoda leading to Heaven before stopping at a restaurant for lunch
16.30 : After the boat trip back to Ben Duc, we depart for Hanoi and arrival in the city around 19.00
